Always Ask Permission!
Always Ask Permission!
Staying in contact with your customers, hostesses and prospects is one of the most important aspects of your business … wouldn’t you agree? This is just a simple reminder to always ask permission to stay in contact with them ahead of time. This simple step will make the phone your friend … I promise. When someone is expecting your call because you’ve already gotten their permission it will so easy to make your calls.
The first step is to simply ask, “Would you like me to stay in touch from time to time and let you know about any events I have in your area and to let you know about any specials I’m offering?”
When you get a “yes,” go ahead and ask them if they prefer to be contacted by phone or email. (As a side note, always make sure you carry a mini spiral tablet with you in your purse). As you are asking them how they prefer to be contacted you should be handing them your mini tablet and ask them to jot down their contact information.
Now, just because they say they “prefer” one over the other you can still get permission to contact them by other means too. Just make sure you make a note to yourself on their preferences. For instance, if they say they prefer that you call them, it’s still OK to ask them if they’d like to be on your email newsletter list. You would just know ahead of time that to reach them about business related issues they might prefer a phone call.
It’s good to find out how often you should be in touch. If you send out a monthly email newsletter you might say something like, “Besides my monthly email newsletter, would it be OK if I checked in with you monthly by phone to let you know about our current specials?
You will also want to know what time of day would be best to reach them regarding your product or service. Some people won’t want to be bothered at work where some won’t want to take calls during family time. Again … just ask.
So there you go … one less excuse to stay in touch with your valuable prospects and customers. Just ask them permission and they’ll be happy to hear from you.
